Video Transcript for Review of Ultra-Fab Products RV and Camper Hitch - RV Bumper Mount Hitch - UF35-946402

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Ultra-Fab two inch Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receiver for four inch by four inch steel bumpers, has a 3,500 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this powder coated steel hitch receiver is designed to clamp around your RV's four inch square bumper, and it provides this two inch receiver opening for your hitch mounted accessories such as bike racks, cargo carriers, or you can even use it for light towing. Now, this hitch receiver can only be mounted onto a four inch square continuous steel welded bumper, it's not designed for aluminum bumpers. This is a heavy-duty steel construction, does have a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 3,500 pounds. Now, one note on that is you do not wanna exceed the weight rating of the bumper it attaches to, and it has a maximum tongue weight of 100 pounds.

If you noticed, if I show you the bottom of it, you can see it does have the safety loops on each side for connecting your safety chains to. We mentioned the black powder coat finish on it, provides rust and corrosion resistance, and this is a nice bolt-on installation, it includes all the mounting hardware, you can see I've pretty much installed it onto the part just to show you where it all goes, and it comes with a nice set of instructions that'll describe how it all goes together. Now, also I wanted to show you, if you look closely, right here and right at the very bottom, there's two large bolts here, these thread into the hitch receiver, and the reason those are on there is once you put your accessory in there, you tighten those down on the bottom and on the side, and it'll help reduce movement between the hitch mount and the receiver tube. Again, the application, you can see the U-bolts here, they are designed to fit four inch by four inch continuous steel welded RV bumpers. Receiver opening right up here is two inches by two inches, and one note is this is designed for use with RV approved accessories only.

Let me show you all the sides. But that should do it for the review on the Ultra-Fab two inch Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receiver for four inch by four inch steel bumpers.

Installed this hitch on my fifth wheel to pull my side by side to the upper peninsula in Michigan, however I would recommend that you be sure your bumper is capable of the weight being towed. I personally removed my existing bumper and welded on a much heavier steel bumper. This hitch did exactly what was expected of it, thanks so much to Kirstin for her help at checkout

This product has preformed as it should, no issues and I can be confident that it will withstand its purpose, thanks again

by:

Works great used on trailer bumber for portable refrigerator to carry on cargo unit. Had to beef up bumper with angle iron due to weight ...no bounce at all with hitch

by:

Product fit perfect. Easy to install. Very happy with the hitch, Only one problem, the anti-wobble bolt on the side would not fit because U-bolt is in the way. You can only get the bottom anti-wobble bolt in. (See 2 pictures) I solved that problem by cutting off the end of the U-bolt that was in the way. They just need to move that hole back a bit more. Now I have both bolts on and cargo carrier is solid.

by:

This bracket provided me the means to mount the receiver style spare tire b racket on my Class C RV. By mounting it upside down, it placed the weight squarely on the frame, leaving the u-bolts to merely hold it in place.

by:

The product arrived ahead of schedule. etrailer upgraded my shipping at no extra cost! It fit on my bumper with very little problem. It was tight because of my chrome covering, but I expected that. I did have to replace two of the nuts that would screw on, and I had wanted to place it above the bumper but the body of the trailer wouldn't let me. I haven't gotten a bike carrier yet, but I wholly expect it to work just fine. I would have given it an excellent but for the bolts I had to replace.

by:

hooked up hitch both u bolts broke dropping both bicycles on freeway in Montana. Just a fact and no total rack and bikes were well un der the maximum load rateing,

by:

I needed a way to carry our mountain bikes when we go traveling with a our RV. The Ultra-Fab Hitch receiver fit perfectly on the 4x4 rear bumper allowing me to carry our bike rack. I feel I could even tow my golf cart trailer behind my RV with this hitch if needed. Very easy to install with a simple socket set and torque wrench.

by:

Cold the cargo rack on the rear of our travel trailer.I bought it so that I can lock my generator to it when we’re traveling.

by:

This bolt on hitch worked as advertised. Important to get the bolts sufficiently tight. I used this product to hold a cargo carrier on 2020 Colorado camping trip.

by:

This fit very well, only problem is the side anti wobble bolt won’t fit when the U bolts are installed. Note submitted picture.

Just ground off a 12 inch or so, installed bolt before the U bolt. Works fine now.

by:

Very easy to install (my four year old helped me). We used it for our bike rack on the back of the trailer so it was installed on top of the bumper instead of underneath. This thing holds it very solid.

by:

Works as advertised. Simple to attach. I use it on the back of my camper an put a generator, extra fuel and loaded cooler. Thanks for great product.

by:

Product looks and feels very solid and well made. Only took me 5 mins to install. Can't wait to see how it performs as we head out in the next few days. I will be carrying my generators and gas and kids bikes on it. Thank you again etrailer.com for an easy purchase with all of the info i could ask for on your website to help make the best selection for my needs.

by:

the item looked and worked as advertised

by:

The bolts on the top are not long enough. I had to buy longer bolts. The bolt on the side that secures the hitch to reduce the movement is too long. The u-bolt is in the way. I had to buy a shorter bolt. The bolt hole needs to be repositioned so the u-bolt will not interfere.

by:

Well constructed, very easy to install, negates fabricating or adapting a hitch by taking advantage of existing 4" bumper.

by:

E trailer is a consistent place I shop for fast delivery, great communication and products as described.

by:

Will not slide properly over my 2” hitch, machined wrong, the holes for the hitched pin indent in on the hitch, will not work. This is my second try, I wish they would inspect there products before sending them out as I am stuck with no way to move.. will be asking for a full refund.very disappointed!!

This is for mounting on motorhome bumpers not to mount on hitch receiver bars.

by:

Just right to tow my little aluminum boat behind the camper !

by:

Bought (2) of them to make to make a removable rack for a small inflatable boat to carry on the back of the trailer bumper. Appears plenty strong have to see how it lasts. Did notice that the chain loops interfere with the 5/8" bent hitch pin hair pin connection. I'll have to make one out of a bolt (they should have though of that).

Rather than a bolt, I recommend using a straight hitch pin, such as the etrailer Trailer Hitch Lock # e98882. This hitch pin has a locking end cap to keep your hitch accessory secure. The lock core is accessed on the end of the cap, making it easier to access in a hitch with limited space like this one.

by:

So far it was very easy to put on the Trailer, I used it for a cargo carrier to place a 3000 Honda Generator on the carrier, work great, the next thing I'm going to try is to pull my 2 Waverunners, but I will check the weight first..

7/3/2014

It has worked great, but now I have changed my Trailer and do not need it anymore

by:

The Ultra fab 2" RV Hitch Receiver for 4"x4" Bumpers is a very well made piece of steel. It fits our Wildwood Trailer Bumper perfectly. It is built so sturdy we have no worries about using it to haul our bicycles. It is rated at 3.5k!

Thanks for the review Ron, but please also keep in mind that an RV approved bike rack should be used, and please make sure the bumper is appropriately for your use.

by:

I mounted 2 on my camper bumper. One for a bike rack and the other for a swing away grill. Super happy w the product and the results.

Dave P.

3/24/2021

A year later, I couldn’t imagine not having the bikes and the grill on the back of the RV. Great product

by:

Very sturdy attachment. Fit perfectly on the trailer bumper and hardware was 1/2" Grade 8 Cad plated--good stuff. Order was received at my driveway exactly on schedule. I would continue to do business with etrailer.

Robert G.

12/1/2018

The attachment is working great. I need to store it outside and see no physical deterioration.

by:

The top bolts were half inch to short. I had to go buy longer ones that cost $x.xx then only one of my hitch shanks will go far enough in to line up the holes for the pin.

  • What Bumper Bike Rack do You Recommend for My 2 Fat-Tire E-Bikes on My 2021 Lance Travel Trailer?
I have a bike-transporting solution for you on your 2021 Lance TT 2285. Unfortunately, all of our ladder-mounted bike racks do not give you the required weight capacity for hauling your 60-pound Aventon Adventure fat tire e-bikes. With that being said, we do have a bumper-mount solution for you. In order to mount a bike rack with the required capacity to your bumper, you need the Ultra-Fab 2" Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receiver for 4" x 4" Bumpers # UF35-946402. This hitch receiver fits...

  • Options to Maneuver a Travel Trailer for Set-Up/Parking Without Backing
We do have a selection of bumper mounted bolt-on hitch receivers such as the Curt RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # E-100 that fits a 4"x4" bumper and then provides for a 2" receiver; although this is not designed for the type of use you are describing. My suggestion is to consider the Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly with Chain Drive with 2" Hitch Ball, # TVXL2 or if needed, 2-5/16" ball in # TVXL25. This heavy-duty dolly with integrated drive will help you maneuver your trailer into...

  • What Bike Rack do You Recommend for Transporting an E-Bike on a Truck and Travel Trailer?
I have a solution for you. Any time you use any adapter like the MaxxTow Hitch Adapter # MT70032, you reduce the overall weight capacity of the hitch by 50%. With that being said, that will reduce your trailer's hitch to only 65 pounds of available tongue weight. Since the OnRamp # Y36FR already weighs 39.5 pounds, that leaves only 25.5 pounds of available tongue weight on the rack. This is extremely dangerous. We unfortunately do not recommend going this route even if you plan on further...

  • Hitch Bike Rack Recommendations for 4 Inch Bumper on a Travel Trailer
In my opinion the Swagman Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier for RV Bumpers, # S64663, is the best rack for use on a 4 inch continuously welded steel RV bumper. This rack folds compactly for storage, will also work in a standard 2 inch hitch on a vehicle, and comes with the bolt on receiver for the RV bumper. This style of rack is super easy to load the bikes on and secures the bikes very well, keeping them from contacting each other or the back of the trailer causing damage. If you need to...

We have a nice selection of trailer hitches that are designed to be installed on RVs and fifth wheel trailers. If you are just wanting a hitch receiver to use with hitch-mounted accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, I recommend looking at the Ultra-Fab 2 Inch Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receiver # UF35-946402. • Recommendation for Carrying 4 Bikes with Pop Up Camper
There are a few different options available for transporting 4 bikes with your pop up camper, depending on how your camper is constructed. First, if your camper features a steel, 4 inch x 4 inch square bumper, you can use a bumper mount hitch like the Ultra-Fab # UF35-946402 to provide a 2 inch receiver for an RV approved, hitch-mounted bike rack. You can use # 337RVA24 if you instead have a 4-1/2 inch x 4 inch bumper on the camper. From there, I recommend taking a look at the Yakima...

If your frame's INSIDE measurement is 73-inches then this hitch will not be wide enough to fit to the outsides of the frame rails as intended by Curt. • Can the Ultra-Fab Motorhome Hitch Be Used to Haul a 280 Pound Lightweight Motorcycle
This trailer hitch has a 350 pound tongue weight rating, so you will want to make sure that the weight of your Moped, and the carrier are under this combined weight rating. For hauling your Moped you will want to make sure that you are using an RV approved carrier. Due to the extended length from the rear axle to the receiver, the forces exerted on the carrier and cargo will be exaggerated. That is why this hitch is intended to be used in conjunction with RV-approved accessories only....

Two of the Ultra-Fab 2" Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receivers # UF35-946402 would in theory hold 650 lbs, but I believe there would be a weight capacity issue on the bumper of your Safari.
